Social housing tenants celebrated
Marlene McKay from South Melbourne and the Let’s Get Together Group from Shepparton have been announced as the Frances Penington Award and Molly Hadfield Award winners for 2016.
The awards were presented by Martin Foley, Minister for Housing, Disability and Ageing at an awards ceremony at Parliament House on Thursday, 8 December 2016.
The Frances Penington Award is named in honour of the late Housing Commissioner who was the first woman appointed to the board of a statutory authority in Victoria.
The Molly Hadfield Award recognises the work of the late Mary (Molly) Hadfield OAM, who was a dedicated advocate for public housing tenants. She was also a founding member of the Housing for the Aged Action Group, which formed in 1983.
