Realising our potential: HSPIC Partnering Dialogues

21 December 2011

The Secretary of the Department of Human Services, Gill Callister introduced the first dialogue of the 2011–12 Human Services Partnership Implementation Committee (HSPIC) Partnering Dialogue program on 14 December to a crowd of appromately 70 community sector leaders.

The topic – realising our potential, department, sector and community, looked at the challenges of working together to improve the economic and social participation of people with limited resources, access and opportunities.

An insightful discussion followed stimulating presentations from Professor Stephen Lamb, University of Melbourne, Peter Dorling, Chair of Northern Futures and Doug Craig, Executive Director, Housing and Community Building Division, Department of Human Services.

This dialogue, along with the previous dialogue program, will continue to inform policy development and service design as we move toward a better integrated system. A system that puts people at the centre of all we do with the right support to help build capabilities and more independent lives.

Copies of the presentations and notes of the discussion are available on the Funded Agency Channel (FAC) - Partnering Dialogues page, together with the themes and proposed 2012 schedule.
