Young people talking at universityYoung Victorians will benefit from a range of new opportunities to have their say and participate in decision-making, as part of the Victorian Government’s new youth policy.

The Youth Policy: Building Stronger Youth Engagement in Victoria is a platform to better connect young people and government.

The policy includes principles for best practice youth engagement, and also outlines a number of key projects to be rolled out involving young people. Some of the projects include:

  • a youth summit to bring together young people from across Victoria, to identify issues that matter most to them
  • a congress of young Victorians, elected by peers, to raise those priority issues directly with government
  • an annual youth survey, to help government understand young Victorians’ aspirations and issues important to them
  • social policy design labs, where specific issues and challenges, and potential ideas and solutions, will be explored.
