International day of people with disability logoWednesday 3 December 2014 is International Day of People with Disability, a United Nations sanctioned day to promote an understanding of people with disability and encourage support for their dignity, rights and well-being.

This year’s theme is ‘Sustainable development: The Promise of Technology’ which focuses on the role of technology as a way to break down barriers for people with disability and how devices are becoming faster, cheaper and more accessible.

The day is also an opportunity to reflect on achievements in the area of disability and consider the future.
