Statements of expectations for regulators 2016-17

The 2016-17 Ministerial Statement of Expectations for the department’s Standards and Regulation Unit has been extended until no later than 31 December 2017. The Standards and Regulation Unit will be required to report on progress to achieve regulatory improvements after the extended Ministerial Statement of Expectations concludes.

Ministerial Statements of Expectations for regulators articulate a Minister’s expectations for regulator performance and improvement. The 2016-17 Ministerial Statements of Expectations, which cover the period 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017, also set out a Minister’s expectations regarding a regulators contribution to the Victorian Government’s Regulation Reform Program.

In the Families and Children, Youth Affairs, and Housing, Disability and Ageing Portfolios, Ministerial Statements of Expectations were issued to the Department of Health and Human Services Standards and Regulations Unit to cover the period 1 July 2016 to 30 June 2017.

The department’s Standards and Regulation Unit is required to provide a response to the 2016-17 Ministerial Statements of Expectations outlining actions they will undertake to give effect to the Minister’s expectations. Reporting on progress to achieve the expectations will be undertaken shortly after the conclusion of the 2016-17 financial year.
