Human Rights Charter - Information for Child Protection Workers

The Victorian Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities (the Charter) was introduced to the Victorian Parliament by the Attorney-General in May 2006 and became law on 25 July 2006. Most of the Charter came into effect from 1 January 200 and the public sector will be bound by the Charter from 1 January 2008.

The Child Protection program is a public authority and organisations undertaking functions of a public nature on behalf of the Department of Human Services (DHS) will be public authorities under the Charter when performing those functions.
