Disability Accommodation and Support IDEAS initiative

The Victorian Government has committed to long-term disability reform and ongoing collaboration to deliver improved outcomes for people with a disability and complex needs.

To ensure that new models of supported accommodation and respite and carer support delivered by the Victorian Government respond to the needs and preferences of people with a disability and families and carers, the IDEAS initiative was established in June 2011.

The consultation process for the initiative included focus groups and interviews with people with a disability (including people with dual disability) and their families and carers; and a community comment process inviting comments from community members, community service organisations and a range of peak bodies and associations.

The IDEAS initiative report provides information about the consultation process, the findings and new directions arising from the initiative and how the information is being used to enhance service delivery now and into the future.
